Kitchens get wet. Splashes at the sink, drips from the fridge, a puddle from the dish rack — the ChefStep sits where the water lands and soaks it up. The diatomite-blend surface pulls moisture in on contact and dries quickly, so the floor stays dry instead of staying slippery.
The surface is a soft faux-suede that feels pleasant underfoot and wipes clean with a damp cloth. Underneath, a non-slip rubber backing grips tile and wood and stays put when you turn from the stove to the sink. It is a low-profile mat, which means it sits flat, tucks under a door and doesn't trip anyone — but it is a thin absorbent mat rather than a thick cushioned standing mat.
Five designs across six sizes, from a compact mat at the sink to a long runner that lines a whole counter.
