LED Alarm Clock

The most irritating thing about a digital bedside clock is that it glows at you all night. This one stays dark until it hears something. Clap, speak, or simply move around the room and the display wakes for a few seconds to show the time, then goes out again, which keeps a bedroom genuinely dark between the moments you actually want to check the hour.

Three separate alarms can be set and held at once, so a weekday alarm, a weekend alarm and a backup all live on the device without being reset against each other every Friday night. Room temperature shows on screen alongside the time and switches between Fahrenheit and Celsius. Brightness is adjustable across a wide range, dim enough for a bedside table or bright enough to read from across an office desk.

The housing is wood-effect ABS, offered in black, brown, white or a wood finish and in either a block or a triangle shape, so it can sit as an unobtrusive object rather than a piece of gadgetry. Power comes over USB with the cable included, which means it runs from any phone charger, laptop port or plug adapter already sitting on the bedside table or desk.
