The shade is sculpted by hand rather than pressed out of a mould, and the matte, unglazed surface is the point of the piece. Light catches it unevenly, picking up the ridges and irregularities across the form instead of bouncing off a uniform glaze, which is the wabi-sabi quality that makes the fixture look different at breakfast than it does at dinner. Surface texture and edge shape differ from piece to piece.

That matte finish also does practical work: it diffuses the G9 output rather than glaring, which is what you want directly above a dining table or a lounge seating area where people sit facing it. The bulb is included, so the fixture works from the moment it is wired. The body is high-density polystyrene, light enough that it does not require a reinforced ceiling box to hang safely.

Three drop widths of twelve, sixteen and twenty-four inches all hang on a fifty-nine inch drop that can be shortened at installation. Over a dining table, size the shade to roughly half the table width. In a stairwell or double-height room the full drop earns its length, while in a standard eight-foot room it should be shortened. This is a hardwired fixture, so we recommend a licensed electrician install it.
